Color coated steel coil is a factory-finished flat steel product made by applying one or more layers of organic coating to a prepared steel substrate. It combines the strength and formability of steel with corrosion protection, controlled color, and decorative appearance. Because the coating is applied and cured on a continuous production line, the material can offer more consistent thickness, finish, and color than many post-fabrication painting processes.
The most common substrates are galvanized steel and Galvalume or aluminum-zinc coated steel. Prepainted galvanized steel is generally known as PPGI, while prepainted aluminum-zinc coated steel is commonly called PPGL. Cold rolled steel may also be used as a substrate for selected indoor applications, subject to the required corrosion performance.
A complete color coated steel system includes the steel substrate, metallic coating where applicable, chemical pretreatment, primer, topcoat, and back coat. Optional protective film may be added for fabrication and installation. The visible RAL color is only one part of the product specification. Long-term performance also depends on the substrate grade, metallic coating mass, pretreatment, paint chemistry, dry film thickness, curing, forming, installation, environment, and maintenance.
Promisteel supplies color coated steel coil for roofing, wall cladding, sandwich panels, roller shutter doors, garage doors, appliances, HVAC equipment, cabinets, ceilings, furniture, and general fabrication. Material is supplied according to the buyer's standard, substrate, dimensions, paint system, color, gloss, finish, processing, packaging, and delivery requirements.
